"Doc, I’ve tried everything. I’ve done all the diets. I’ve done HCG, low-calorie diets, I’ve even taken those magic pills I saw on the TV and it is just no use. I can’t lose weight and it’s not my fault."
How many times have I heard that?
But you know what? I believe them… and here’s why.
I believe they’ve tried everything they can think of and I not only think but know that sometimes it isn’t their fault. The reason I believe this is because their focus has been entirely external, when internally, something might be wrong physiologically. What do I mean by that?
Let me explain…
It is very possible some people could have foods in their diet that they are sensitive to and these food sensitivities could be short circuiting their body’s ability to lose weight.
In order to better understand this, we need to realize there is a difference between a food allergy, a food sensitivity, and a food intolerance.
When someone has an allergy to a food (such as shellfish, peanuts, etc.) if that person eats that food they will have a fairly immediate reaction in some way, usually within a few minutes. Maybe their tongue will swell or their lips will turn red.
What many of us haven’t heard of is food sensitivities. A food sensitivity is not an allergy, but instead, it is a slow reaction which can take four, five, even six days to manifest symptoms. Those symptoms could include: swelling, inflammation, headaches, pains and, for some, a resistance to weight loss. I don’t remember what I ate six days ago, do you?
A food intolerance would be like when someone is lactose intolerant. It may produce some embarrassing gas but not much more than that.
It may be well worth exploring to see if you have any food sensitivities especially if you have tried numerous methods to lose weight. There are two ways to do this.
Coca’s pulse test is the first method I would recommend to determine if you have food sensitivities. It’s cheap, easy, and can be done in the comfort of your own home. It would take too long to explain with words how it works, at the top of the page is a video that explains how you can do it at home.
Although Coca’s pulse test is free and painless, there is some room to improve accuracy. This is where blood tests for specific food panels come into play. We use a very simple pin prick test, which you can order from us, and complete this procedure at your home. It’s as simple as pricking your finger with the included instrument, and then placing your droplets of blood on the piece of test paper. Box it up and ship to the lab.
This will test for 120 of the most common foods we consume, in both the raw and cooked form. Few doctors are doing this. And even fewer labs are testing foods in both the raw and cooked state. This lab will test Immunoglobulin G which is a protein complex used to determine what foods you may be sensitive too.
Interestingly enough, some people, who have been tested and found to be negative for allergies, come up positive for certain food sensitivities.
As I mentioned in the video, you could just remove the usual “suspects” when it comes to the bad guys; such as dairy, wheat, corn (and corn products), tomatoes, sugar and salt.
So if you’re having difficulty losing weight, it may be worth your while to be tested and it would be very worthwhile if you’re just getting started in your weight loss journey.
